Other FAQs

  • Can you run Swing Catalyst on a mac?

We recommend using a Windows computer, but it is possible to run Swing Catalyst on an Apple Mac by using Boot Camp. Learn more here.

  • Should I choose a USB or GigE camera?

We recommend USB cameras if you want a portable setup, while GigE cameras are better suited for permanent setups. For USB cameras we recommend using max. 2 cameras, while GigE cameras are suited for setups with up to 4 cameras.

  • Do I need a high-speed camera to use Swing Catalyst?

While a high-speed camera is recommended for the best video analysis, it is not necessary to use the Swing Catalyst software. Swing Catalyst supports DirectShow integration, meaning it supports almost any web camera or camera you can use without installing a driver in Windows. Learn more here. You can also import pre-recorded videos from your smartphone or digital camera into Swing Catalyst.

  • Do I need a sensor plate to use Swing Catalyst?

You do not need a sensor plate to use Swing Catalyst. Swing Catalyst is primarily a video analysis software and provides you with plenty of improvement tools even without sensor plate integration,  including drawing tools, slow-motion playback, video overlay, side-by-side comparison and lesson recording.

  • What is the difference between Swing Catalyst Basic and Pro?

The Basic and Pro version provide all the same video analysis features, including drawing tools, slow-motion playback, video overlay, side-by-side comparison and lesson recording.

The difference between the two editions lies in the number of cameras you can use and whether or not you can integrate with a Swing Catalyst sensor plate. Choose Basic if you want to use up to 2 cameras without sensor plate integration. Choose Pro  if you want to use more than 2 cameras and/or integrate with a sensor plate.
